It’s not just what you say…
…but how you say it. And what you do with it! Alison Waterfield is as passionate about communication and storytelling as she is about sustainability and technology topics.
Alison graduated from Hull University in 2005 with an undergraduate Master of Chemistry with Molecular Medicine and from Oxford University in 2007 with a postgraduate Master of Science in Pharmacology. She worked for 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry in Discovery Biology research in different disease areas at Pfizer in UK and at Novartis and Roche in Basel.
She is forging a new professional path in Communications and is currently studying for an MAS in Corporate Communications Management at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz. Before joining Polarstern, Alison gained valuable editorial experience coordinating the whole production process of the monthly member magazine of a local English-speaking community in Basel and has been regularly writing for another local community website.
Alison is completing an internship with us to gain first-hand agency experience and to deep dive into sustainability reporting, her chosen topic for her MAS thesis. At Polarstern, she can combine her interest in sustainability with her scientific background, editorial experience and her creative streak. As well as working on internal assignments, she will also support various Polarstern projects.
In her free time, she spends a lot of time creating – cooking and food photography, doing fluid art and crochet – and relaxing in nature and in wellness.
